About Bitwarden Authenticator

Bitwarden Authenticator is a separate app from the Bitwarden password manager, made for people who want their two-factor codes in their own place. It generates standard six-digit TOTP codes that change every 30 seconds, adds accounts by scanning QR codes or entering a key, and needs no Bitwarden account to use. Codes are stored on the device, and you can export them or import from other authenticators. Bitwarden users can optionally link it with the password manager app on the same phone to see codes stored in their vault. It is free, open source, and available on iOS and Android, with code that now lives in Bitwarden's main mobile repositories. Because it is newer than most rivals it is fairly plain, with fewer organisation options, and there is no desktop or browser version of the authenticator itself; if you want codes on a computer, the Bitwarden password manager's premium plan can store and fill TOTP codes instead.

Best for: People who want a simple free authenticator from a trusted open-source security company.
