About Okta Verify

Okta Verify is the multi-factor app for organisations that use Okta as their identity provider. When you sign in to your Okta dashboard or an Okta-protected app, you approve a push notification or type a one-time code from the app; depending on how your company configures it, it can also support number challenges, biometric checks, device assurance and passwordless sign-in through Okta FastPass on desktop. It can additionally be used as a regular third-party authenticator for sites such as GitHub, Facebook or Google. The app is free to download on iOS and Android, with desktop versions for Windows and macOS used for FastPass, but it only becomes useful once an administrator has enabled Okta Verify for your organisation's Okta tenant, which is a paid service. For personal accounts alone, dedicated authenticator apps are simpler and more portable, and if you leave the employer your work enrolment goes with them, so it is worth keeping personal codes elsewhere.
