About Carbonite
Carbonite Safe is a backup service that continuously copies files from a Windows PC or Mac to the cloud, with no cap on how much you store for a single computer. Higher personal plans add backup of an external drive, automatic video backup and courier recovery, and bundle Webroot antivirus, since both brands now belong to OpenText. Restores work through the app or web, and older file versions are kept for a set period. Business plans add multiple computers, servers and Microsoft 365 backup. Pricing is an annual subscription per computer, with first-year discounts that make renewal noticeably more expensive. Desktop apps cover Windows and macOS (Mac support has fewer features), and mobile apps let you view backed-up files. It has no Linux client, no sync folder and limited control over what gets backed up compared with tools like Arq.
Best for: Home users who want unlimited automatic backup with antivirus bundled.
