About Proton Drive
Proton Drive is Proton's encrypted file storage, sold alone or as part of bundles with Proton Mail, VPN and Pass. Files, filenames and folder structure are encrypted on your device, and the apps are open source and independently audited. It covers photo backup from phones, sharing links with passwords and expiry, version history and, more recently, encrypted documents and spreadsheets that can be edited collaboratively in the browser. There is a free plan, a Drive Plus plan, and bundles such as Proton Unlimited that make more sense if you want the other Proton services too. Business plans are available. Apps run on Windows, macOS, Android, iOS and the web, while Linux support has lagged behind the other platforms. Compared with Google Drive or Dropbox it is slower to sync large libraries and has fewer integrations, the usual price of strict encryption.
Best for: People who want encrypted storage alongside an encrypted email account.
