About Syncthing

Syncthing keeps folders in sync directly between your computers, phones and servers, without storing anything on a third-party cloud. Devices find each other through discovery servers, then connect directly (or through relays when needed) over encrypted TLS connections, and each device decides which folders it shares with which others. Because there is no central storage, there is nothing to pay and no capacity limit beyond your own disks, but at least one device needs to be online for others to receive changes. It supports file versioning, ignore patterns and untrusted devices that only hold encrypted copies. Syncthing is free, open source under the MPL 2.0 licence and community run. It runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, BSDs and more, and community apps cover Android and iOS. Setup is configuration-heavy compared with Dropbox, and there is no web sharing link for sending files to others.

Best for: Technical users who want private sync between their own machines.
