About Erugo

Erugo is a newer self-hosted file sharing platform that aims to give you a WeTransfer-like experience on your own server. Users sign in, upload files, and send recipients a share link or email; shares can expire, be password protected and be tracked. Administrators can brand the interface with their own logo and backgrounds, manage users, and configure email delivery. It is written in PHP with Laravel and a Vue.js front end, deploys with Docker, and is released under the MIT licence. The project has moved quickly since its 2025 launch, which brings frequent improvements but also the occasional breaking change and security update to keep on top of. Compared with minimalist tools like PsiTransfer it is more polished and closer to a commercial product, but you still need to host, secure and back it up yourself. It suits small businesses and self-hosters who want a branded sharing portal without a subscription.

Best for: Small businesses that want a branded, self-hosted file sharing portal.
