About Frappe HR
Frappe HR, formerly part of ERPNext and released as a separate app, is an open-source HR and payroll system from Frappe. It covers employee records and lifecycle, recruitment, onboarding, shifts and attendance, leave, expense claims, performance appraisals and payroll with salary structures and tax reports, and it includes a mobile app for employees. Payroll localisation is strongest for India, including tax regimes, EPF, professional tax and ESI, and other countries are supported through configuration or community apps. The software is free; you can self-host it or pay for managed hosting on Frappe Cloud, and it works alongside ERPNext for accounting. It runs in the browser. Like ERPNext, it rewards some technical investment: setup and localisation take work, the interface is functional rather than polished, and support comes from partners or the community unless you buy it.
