About GoCD

GoCD is a free, open-source continuous delivery server originally built at Thoughtworks, the consultancy closely associated with the continuous delivery movement. Its strength is modelling and visualising complex delivery workflows: pipelines can depend on other pipelines and materials, fan in and fan out, and the value stream map shows how a commit travels through every stage to production, which helps when many services and environments are involved. Pipelines can be configured in the UI or as code in YAML, JSON or Groovy, and elastic agents can spin up workers on Docker, Kubernetes and cloud providers. A plugin system covers SCMs, artifacts, authorisation and notifications. GoCD is less trendy than hosted CI services and its UI looks dated, but it is stable and free of licence costs. It is released under the Apache 2.0 licence and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, with Docker and Kubernetes options.

Best for: Teams with complex multi-stage delivery pipelines who want them visualised end to end.
