About Karakeep

Karakeep, previously known as Hoarder, is an open-source app for saving links, notes and images in one place and letting AI organise them. When you save a link it fetches the title, description and image, can archive the full page against link rot, and can download videos. Language models, including local ones through Ollama, suggest tags and summaries, and OCR pulls text out of images so everything is searchable with full-text and semantic search. Lists can be shared with others, a rules engine automates sorting, and it can pull new items from RSS feeds. There are browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox and Safari, iOS and Android apps, a REST API and importers for Pocket, Omnivore and Linkwarden. Self-hosting with Docker is free and includes every feature. Karakeep Cloud has a small free tier for trying it and a low-cost Pro plan for larger libraries. It is best for tinkerers with a home server who want a private, searchable dump of everything.

Best for: Home-server users who want AI-tagged, searchable bookmarks, notes and images.
