About Readeck

Readeck is an open-source tool for saving web content you want to read later or keep for years. You paste a link or use the browser extension, and Readeck stores a readable copy of the article, photo or video as a bookmark that you can label, favourite, archive and search. Highlights can be added to any text and browsed across your whole library, and for videos it fetches the transcript when one is available so you can read and highlight it like an article. Articles and whole collections can be exported as e-books, and Readeck exposes a catalogue that compatible e-readers can browse. It is distributed as a single executable file with no dependencies, or as a container image for Docker or Podman, and the code is published under the AGPL on Codeberg. It is free to run on your own machine; there is no official paid hosting. It suits self-hosters who found wallabag dated and want something modern but light.

Best for: Self-hosters who want a modern, lightweight read-later archive they fully control.
