About Matter
Matter is a read-later app built by a small team, aimed at people who read a lot on iPhone and iPad. You can save articles, threads and PDFs from the browser extension or share sheet, pull email newsletters in through a Matter address or a Gmail connection, and follow writers and feeds so new posts arrive automatically. It can also save YouTube videos and podcast episodes and turn them into time-synced transcripts. The app's best-known feature is text-to-speech with very natural voices, which turns your queue into a listening playlist, and you can highlight while listening. Highlights sync to note-taking tools, and quoteshots make it easy to share passages as images. Matter has a free tier, with a Premium subscription unlocking features such as the higher-quality voices and integrations. It runs on iOS, iPadOS and the web, but there is no Android app, which rules it out for many people.
