About wallabag

wallabag is a free and open-source read-it-later application that has been developed since 2013. You save a web page from a browser extension, mobile app or bookmarklet, and wallabag extracts the article text into a clean reading view, keeping a copy in your own archive so it does not vanish if the original changes. Tags, favourites, search and annotations help organise what you keep, and you can read on the web, Android, iPhone, e-readers or through RSS feeds of your lists. It imports from Pocket, Omnivore, Instapaper and Pinboard, which makes it a popular landing spot for people leaving closed services. You can run it yourself on a PHP server or with Docker under the MIT licence, or pay a small yearly fee for wallabag.it, the official hosted version run in Europe with a 14-day trial. The interface is plainer than commercial apps and third-party mobile clients vary in polish, but your data stays under your control.

Best for: People who want to own their read-later archive, self-hosted or on a cheap European host.
