About OmniWM

OmniWM is a tiling window manager for macOS that borrows its ideas from two Linux favourites: the scrolling column strip of Niri and the dwindle (binary space partition) layout of Hyprland. Windows are arranged automatically, and you move, swap and resize them with keyboard shortcuts, mouse drags or trackpad swipes. On top of tiling it bundles extras that other Mac tilers leave to separate apps: an overview of every workspace, a command palette that searches windows, menus, clipboard history and files, a drop-down Ghostty terminal, a per-display workspace bar that fits around the notch, and scratchpads. Everything can also be driven from a CLI and IPC for scripting. It is free and released under the GPL-2.0 licence, installed through Homebrew or from GitHub. The catch is the narrow system support: it targets Apple Silicon Macs on the newest macOS release only, so older Intel machines and earlier macOS versions are left out. It suits people coming from Linux tiling setups who want the same feel on a Mac.

Best for: Mac users who want Niri-style scrolling columns or Hyprland-style tiling on Apple Silicon.
