About Opera GX

Opera GX is a version of Opera aimed at gamers. It shares the Chromium base, free browser VPN, ad blocker and AI features of regular Opera, then adds controls to cap how much CPU, memory and network bandwidth the browser can use, so it doesn't slow down a game running at the same time. It also builds Twitch and Discord into the sidebar, offers GX Corner with free game deals and release calendars, and leans heavily into theming, with custom colours, wallpapers, sounds and community-made mods. The look is deliberately loud, which some people love and others find distracting. Underneath it behaves like any Chromium browser and runs Chrome extensions. It is free and available on Windows and macOS, with mobile apps for Android and iOS. It suits gamers and streamers who want a browser that stays out of the way of games and matches their setup.

Best for: Gamers and streamers who want to cap browser resource use while playing.
