About Ory

Ory is a set of identity building blocks: Kratos for user management and login, Hydra as an OAuth2 and OpenID Connect server, Keto for Zanzibar-style permissions and Oathkeeper as an identity proxy. Each is written in Go, is open source under Apache 2.0, and is headless, meaning Ory provides the APIs and flows while you build or adapt the login screens. You can run the components yourself or use Ory Network, the managed cloud that bundles them with an account experience, B2B SSO and analytics. Ory is built for very large scale; OpenAI is among the companies it names as users. The modular, API-first design gives teams a lot of control, but it takes more engineering effort than drop-in services, and the managed plans are priced annually at levels aimed at businesses rather than hobby projects. An enterprise licence adds supported self-hosted builds for regulated environments.

Best for: Engineering teams that want modular, API-first identity at large scale.
