About WorkOS

WorkOS started as a way for SaaS companies to add SAML and OIDC single sign-on for enterprise customers without building each integration themselves, and has grown into a full user management platform. AuthKit provides hosted, customisable login with passwords, social sign-in, magic codes, passkeys and MFA, while Directory Sync connects to customers' Okta, Entra ID or Google directories for automatic provisioning. An Admin Portal lets your customers' IT admins configure SSO themselves, and add-ons cover audit logs, role-based access control, fine-grained authorization, bot protection and key management. Its pricing is unusual: user management is free for the first million monthly active users, and you pay per enterprise SSO or directory connection instead. That makes it inexpensive early on and predictable as you sign larger customers. It is cloud only, built mainly for B2B products rather than consumer apps.

Best for: B2B SaaS companies selling to enterprises that ask for SSO and SCIM.

Pros and cons

  • Self-serve Admin Portal for customers' IT admins

Why people leave

  • Each enterprise SSO connection is billed monthly
  • Cloud only
  • Less suited to consumer apps with heavy fraud concerns
