About Recurly

Recurly runs recurring billing for subscription businesses, from streaming and media to SaaS and consumer boxes. It manages plans, trials, add-ons, usage charges and invoices, and routes payments across multiple gateways at once so a company is not tied to one processor. Much of its pitch is about keeping subscribers: dunning campaigns for failed cards, churn analytics, cancel-save flows, and an add-on called Recurly Engage for targeted offers. There is also a revenue recognition product and a version that plugs into Shopify for ecommerce subscriptions. Recurly reports supporting more than 140 currencies. The entry plan charges a monthly fee plus a share of billing volume above an included amount, with a long free trial, while larger plans are priced on volume by quote. It is a web app with APIs and client libraries, suited to companies with enough subscribers that recovering failed payments pays for the tool.

Best for: Consumer and SaaS subscription businesses that want to cut failed-payment churn.
