About RSS Guard
RSS Guard is a cross-platform desktop feed reader built with Qt by developer Martin Rotter and released under the GPL. It reads RSS, Atom and JSON feeds and can sync with many web-based feed services, including Inoreader, Feedly, TheOldReader, Tiny Tiny RSS, Nextcloud News, FreshRSS and others using Google Reader-compatible APIs. It is known for doing more than reading: it can play podcasts, scrape websites into feeds with scripts, filter and tag articles with JavaScript-based filters, and even includes basic XMPP and Gemini protocol support. Builds are available for Windows, macOS and Linux, including a lighter variant without the built-in web engine. It is completely free with no ads. The interface is dense and utilitarian, aimed at people comfortable with lots of settings, and there is no mobile app.
Best for: Desktop power users who want a free reader that syncs with almost any service.
