About RudderStack

RudderStack collects event data from websites, mobile apps and servers and routes it to analytics and marketing tools and to data warehouses, much like Segment, whose tracking API it is compatible with. Its pitch is warehouse-first: your Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift or Databricks warehouse is treated as the source of truth, with identity resolution and customer profiles built on top of it. It also offers JavaScript transformations on events in flight, tracking plans and data quality checks, consent and bot filtering, and reverse ETL from the warehouse back into business tools. The hosted service has a free tier by event volume, a Growth plan priced on monthly events and an enterprise tier with HIPAA support. The core data plane is also available as source-available self-hosted software under the Elastic License 2.0. It suits data engineering teams that want control over their customer data.

Best for: Data teams that want Segment-style event pipelines built around their own warehouse.
