About Volusion

Volusion is one of the older hosted ecommerce platforms, running since the late 1990s and now operating under new ownership after its 2020 restructuring. It provides a store builder with themes, product and inventory management, checkout, marketing tools and reports, with plans capped by annual sales volume, product counts and staff accounts. Support is available by live chat and email. For existing merchants it remains a stable home, but it has fallen well behind Shopify and BigCommerce in themes, apps and modern features such as headless APIs, and the plans' sales caps mean growing stores are pushed to higher tiers. It is hard to recommend for brand-new stores unless the price and simplicity specifically appeal. It runs in the browser.

Best for: Existing Volusion merchants and small stores wanting a simple hosted cart.
