About Zepp
Zepp is the phone app that pairs with Amazfit smartwatches and fitness bands, made by Zepp Health (formerly Huami). It syncs data from the watch and shows daily activity, workouts with GPS routes, heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, sleep stages and a readiness-style recovery view. It is also where you install watch faces and mini apps for watches running Zepp OS, and where you connect the data to other services such as Strava or Apple Health. The core app is free with no required subscription, which is a big difference from wearables that keep coaching or deeper metrics behind a monthly fee. Zepp Aura, a separate paid add-on, offers sleep soundscapes and relaxation content. Older Amazfit and Xiaomi Mi Band devices use the sister app Zepp Life instead. The app runs on iPhone and Android and is mainly worth it if you already own, or plan to buy, an Amazfit device; it does not work with other brands' watches.
Best for: Amazfit watch and band owners who want health and workout tracking without a subscription.
Pros and cons
What works
- Free to use with no subscription needed for core health data
- Covers sleep, heart rate, SpO2, stress and GPS workouts in one app
- Syncs with Strava, Apple Health and other platforms
- Paired Amazfit hardware is cheaper than most rival watches
Why people leave
- Only works with Amazfit and Zepp devices
- Training analysis is shallower than Garmin Connect or COROS
- Older devices need the separate Zepp Life app
- Relaxation content sits in a separate paid Zepp Aura service
