About 4shared
4shared is one of the older file hosting services on the web. You upload files to an online drive, organise them in folders and share them through download links, and other people's public files can be searched and downloaded from the site, which is why it is often used for music, documents and e-books. A free account gives 15 GB of storage, but individual uploads are capped at a fairly small size, there are ads, and downloads go through intermediate pages. Paid Premium plans add more storage up to 1 TB, larger uploads, ad-free browsing, direct download links and file statistics. There are apps for Android and iOS as well as the website. It suits people who mainly want to publish files for others to download; for private backup and syncing between devices, mainstream cloud drives are more capable and less cluttered.
Best for: People who want to host files for public download with a generous free storage allowance.
