About Cryptomator
Cryptomator adds client-side encryption to the cloud storage you already use. You create a vault inside your Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or any other synced folder, unlock it with a password, and it appears as a virtual drive; anything you put there is encrypted file by file, including filenames, before the sync client uploads it. The provider only sees scrambled data, and because files stay separate, sync remains efficient. The desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux is free and open source; the iOS and Android apps are paid one-time purchases. For organisations, Cryptomator Hub adds centralised key and access management for team vaults, with a trial. It does not replace a storage provider, sharing encrypted files with others requires sharing the vault password or using Hub, and losing the password means losing the data.
Best for: People who want to keep their current cloud but encrypt what goes into it.
