About Cromite
Cromite is the successor to Bromite, the well-known privacy-hardened Chromium build for Android that stopped development. It applies a large set of patches to Chromium to remove Google integrations, reduce fingerprinting, disable various tracking features and add a built-in ad blocker that works with filter lists. Its main audience is Android users, especially those on de-Googled ROMs, who want a Chromium-based browser that blocks ads without relying on extensions, which Chrome on Android does not support. Builds are also available for Windows and Linux. It does not include sync or Google account features, extensions are not supported on Android, and installation and updates are done from GitHub releases or an F-Droid repository rather than an app store. It is free and open source under the GPL, maintained by a small team. It suits privacy-minded Android users who want Chromium compatibility with ad blocking built in.
Best for: Privacy-minded Android users who want Chromium with ad blocking built in.
