About Dodo Payments

Dodo Payments is a merchant of record for software, AI and digital product sellers. Instead of opening a payment gateway account and registering for sales tax or VAT in each country, a seller lists products on Dodo, which becomes the legal seller, takes the payment and calculates and remits tax on each sale. It covers one-time payments, subscriptions, usage-based and credit-based billing, license keys, digital file delivery, discount codes, affiliates and a no-code storefront, plus SDKs, webhooks and an MCP server for developers. Customers can pay with cards, wallets, local methods such as UPI, and BNPL options in many currencies. It has become popular with indie developers and Indian founders who can't easily get Stripe, because it accepts individuals and verifies accounts quickly. There is no monthly fee: Dodo charges a percentage plus a fixed amount per transaction, with surcharges for international cards, subscriptions and some add-ons. Merchants manage everything from a web dashboard or the desktop and mobile apps.

Best for: Indie developers and small SaaS teams who want to sell worldwide without handling sales tax themselves.
