About FileCloud

FileCloud is a commercial file sharing and sync platform from CodeLathe, aimed at businesses that need control over where data lives. It can be self-hosted on-premises or in your own cloud account, or bought as a managed SaaS, and it can sit in front of existing Windows file shares so users get web and mobile access without migrating data. Admin features are its focus: granular access controls, data leak prevention, retention policies, workflow automation, and compliance support for standards such as HIPAA, GDPR, ITAR and CMMC. A free trial is available without payment details, and pricing is per user with minimum seat counts depending on the edition. Clients include a web interface, desktop sync and drive apps for Windows and macOS, and mobile apps. It is a good fit for government contractors and regulated firms; for small teams it is more administration than needed.

Best for: Regulated organisations that need self-hosted or private-cloud file sharing.

What works

Self-hosted, private cloud or SaaS deployment
Strong compliance and data leak controls
Remote access to existing file servers

Why people leave

Seat minimums on hosted plans
Admin-heavy for small teams
Interface feels dated next to Dropbox
