About LastPass Authenticator

LastPass Authenticator is the companion two-factor app for the LastPass password manager. For your LastPass account it supports one-tap push approval, as well as six-digit codes and SMS codes as a fallback, and for LastPass business customers it can also cover single sign-on apps and passwordless login to workstations. It generates standard TOTP codes, so it works with most other websites that support authenticator apps too. Codes can be backed up to your LastPass account so they can be restored on a new phone. The app is free on iOS and Android. It makes most sense if you already use LastPass, since its extra features are tied to LastPass services, and it requires a LastPass account for backup. LastPass suffered a serious breach in 2022 in which encrypted vault backups were stolen, which led many users to leave the service; if you are moving away from LastPass, it is worth moving your 2FA codes to an independent app at the same time.
