About Netdata

Netdata is an open-source monitoring agent that auto-detects what is running on a machine and immediately shows per-second metrics for the system, containers and hundreds of applications, with no configuration needed. Each agent stores its own data locally and includes preconfigured alerts and machine-learning anomaly detection, which keeps central infrastructure small. Agents can stream to parent nodes for centralisation, and Netdata Cloud ties many nodes together in one interface without moving all the data off your servers. It is excellent for quickly understanding what a server is doing and for troubleshooting live performance problems, though it is less suited to long-term capacity planning or log-heavy workflows. The agent is open source under GPL-3.0. Netdata Cloud has a free tier for a few nodes for non-commercial use and paid plans priced per node, plus a cheap homelab plan. It runs on Linux, macOS, FreeBSD, Windows and Kubernetes.

Best for: Sysadmins and homelab users who want instant, detailed server metrics with no setup.
