About Zabbix
Zabbix is a mature open-source monitoring platform used widely for traditional IT infrastructure. A central server collects data from Zabbix agents, SNMP devices, IPMI, JMX, HTTP checks and cloud APIs, stores it in a SQL database, and provides a web interface for dashboards, maps, triggers, problem tracking and escalations. A large library of templates covers common operating systems, network gear, databases and services, so many devices are monitored with little configuration. It is especially strong for network and on-premises environments and scales to very large estates with proxies. The interface and configuration model are dense and take time to learn, and it is less natural than Prometheus for short-lived containers. The software is free with no licence fees, released under the AGPL from version 7.0, with paid support from Zabbix SIA and a hosted Zabbix Cloud option. It runs on Linux.
Best for: IT teams monitoring servers and network devices on-premises at scale without licence fees.
