About GNU PSPP
GNU PSPP is a free statistics program designed as a drop-in replacement for IBM SPSS. It reads and writes SPSS data files and understands SPSS syntax, so existing scripts and datasets often carry over, and you can work either in a graphical interface with a data grid and menus or with traditional syntax commands. It covers the analyses most coursework and survey work needs: descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVA, linear and logistic regression, measures of association, cluster, reliability and factor analysis, and non-parametric tests. Output can be saved as text, PDF, HTML or OpenDocument. Unlike SPSS there are no licence fees, no expiry and no artificial limits on cases or variables. It is GNU software under the GPLv3, developed by volunteers, and runs mainly on GNU/Linux, with builds for other systems. Its interface looks dated, and it offers fewer advanced procedures and charts than SPSS, jamovi or JASP.
Best for: Former SPSS users who need free software that opens their syntax and .sav files.
