About RealPlayer
RealPlayer is the long-running media player from RealNetworks, now focused on Windows as a combined player, video downloader and media library. Besides playing common audio and video formats, including the old RealAudio and RealVideo files, it can save videos from YouTube and many other sites, download playlists or subscribe to channels, and record live streams. It also casts to Chromecast, syncs videos with the RealPlayer Mobile app, converts and trims files, burns discs and can group a library by the people who appear in it. The basic player is free to download, while downloader limits lift and extras such as private videos, DVD burning and duplicate removal need a paid plan. A separate, simpler downloader app is offered for Macs. The free version promotes upgrades, and the app is heavier than a plain player such as VLC.
Best for: Windows users who want playback, video downloading and a media library in one app.
