About Resilio Sync
Resilio Sync, originally BitTorrent Sync, synchronises folders directly between devices using a peer-to-peer protocol, with no files stored on a central cloud. Because transfers are split across all devices that hold a file, it is fast for large files and many machines, and it can sync over a local network without touching the internet. Selective sync and on-demand placeholders let a laptop see files without downloading them all. The personal Sync Home product is free and, since the Pro features were folded into it, includes options that used to need a paid licence. Resilio is now part of Nasuni and focuses its business efforts on Resilio Active Everywhere, a separate enterprise product. Apps run on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS and NAS devices. It is closed source, and as with Syncthing at least one peer must be online for others to get changes.
Best for: People syncing large files between their own computers and NAS.
