About ShareFile
ShareFile, now owned by Progress Software, is file sharing built around client-facing work. Accounting, legal, financial and healthcare firms use it to request documents from clients, share files through branded portals, collect e-signatures, and run approval workflows, with audit trails that help with compliance. Higher tiers add virtual data rooms for due diligence and more advanced workflow and security features. It also works as an internal file store, but its value is in replacing email attachments and insecure links with a tidy client exchange. Plans are priced per user per month with minimum seat counts and a free trial; there is no free plan. It runs in the browser with desktop apps for Windows and macOS, Outlook and Office plugins, and mobile apps. Compared with Dropbox or Box it is less suited to day-to-day team collaboration.
Best for: Accounting, legal and finance firms exchanging documents with clients.
