About Splunk Observability Cloud

Splunk Observability Cloud is Splunk's SaaS product for metrics, traces and front-end monitoring, separate from its well-known Splunk Enterprise and Splunk Cloud log platforms. It came out of Splunk's acquisitions of SignalFx and Omnition and is built on OpenTelemetry, with streaming analytics that update charts and detectors in seconds. It covers infrastructure monitoring, APM with full-fidelity tracing, real user monitoring, synthetics and on-call, and ties into Splunk's log products for investigations. Since Cisco bought Splunk in 2024 it is sold alongside AppDynamics. It suits organisations that already run Splunk for logs or security and want monitoring from the same vendor; for smaller teams the enterprise sales process and pricing can feel heavy. Pricing is per host per month in tiers, billed annually, with a free trial. It is a hosted web service.

Best for: Enterprises already using Splunk for logs or security that want APM from the same vendor.
