About SugarSync

SugarSync is one of the older cloud sync services, now owned by J2 Global's successor Ziff Davis. Its difference from Dropbox has always been that you can sync any existing folder on your computer rather than moving everything into one special folder, which suits people with established folder structures. It covers backup and sync across computers and phones, sharing links, remote wipe of lost devices, and version history. There is no free plan, only a free trial, and personal and business plans are billed monthly or yearly. Apps run on Windows and macOS, plus iOS and Android and the web; there is no Linux client. Development has been slow for years, the interface looks dated, and prices are higher than newer competitors for the same storage. It still works well for long-time users with a folder-based workflow.

Best for: Long-time users who want to sync existing folders without restructuring.
