About Uptrace

Uptrace is an open-source application performance monitoring tool that stores OpenTelemetry traces, metrics and logs in ClickHouse. It gives you a service overview, trace explorer, log search, metric dashboards and alerting in a single Go binary plus the database, which makes it noticeably lighter to run than larger stacks. The project emphasises storage efficiency through ClickHouse compression, so it is attractive for teams that collect a lot of spans and want to keep them for longer without a big bill. You can self-host the AGPL-licensed edition for free or use Uptrace Cloud, which is billed by GB of data and data points rather than by host. It is a smaller project than SigNoz or Grafana, with a smaller community and fewer ready-made dashboards and integrations, so expect to rely more on the docs and OpenTelemetry's own instrumentation.

Best for: Small teams wanting a lightweight self-hosted OpenTelemetry APM.
