About Zammad
Zammad is an open-source help desk and ticketing system developed in Germany. It handles tickets from email, web forms, chat, phone integrations, Telegram, WhatsApp and social channels, with a fast, modern agent interface, text modules, SLAs, triggers, a knowledge base and reporting. Recent versions add AI features such as ticket summaries. You can install it yourself with packages, Docker or Kubernetes at no licence cost, or buy hosted plans from the Zammad company, which also sells support and consulting for self-hosted installs. The hosted service runs in ISO 27001 certified data centres, which appeals to European organisations focused on GDPR. Zammad is more ticket-oriented than chat-first tools and its integration catalogue is smaller than Zendesk's. Hosted pricing is per agent per month in euros. It runs in the browser and on your own server. It suits organisations that want a full help desk under their control, especially in Europe.
Best for: Organisations, especially in Europe, that want a full help desk they can self-host.
