About tawk.to

tawk.to is a live chat platform that is free to use with no limits on agents or chat volume. Businesses add a chat widget to their website, then answer visitors from the web dashboard or desktop and mobile apps. Beyond chat, it includes a ticketing inbox, a knowledge base, a simple CRM and automations. The company makes money from optional extras: removing the small tawk.to branding, an AI assistant, video and voice, and hired human agents who answer chats on your behalf at an hourly rate. That model makes it hugely popular with small businesses, non-profits and websites that need basic chat without a budget. The downsides are an interface that feels dated next to newer tools, branding on the free widget, and less depth in reporting and integrations than paid help desks. It runs in the browser with apps for iOS, Android, Mac and Windows. It suits small sites that want capable live chat for free.

Best for: Small businesses and non-profits that need full live chat at no cost.
