About Affirm
Affirm is a US-based buy now, pay later company that offers two main kinds of plans at checkout: four interest-free payments every two weeks for smaller purchases, and monthly plans of three, six, twelve months or longer for bigger ones. Monthly plans may carry interest depending on credit, but the total cost is shown before you commit, and Affirm's selling point is that it charges no late fees or hidden fees of its own. Checking what you qualify for uses a soft credit check. Beyond retailer checkouts, Affirm works through Apple Pay and Google Pay, a Chrome extension, and the Affirm Card, a debit card that lets you pay in full or move a purchase onto a plan. It also offers a savings account. Affirm operates mainly in the US, with versions for Canada, the UK and a few other countries; signing up is free, and it runs on the web and in Android and iOS apps.
Best for: US shoppers financing larger purchases who want fixed monthly payments and no late fees.
