About Coze
Coze is ByteDance's platform for building AI agents and chatbots without much code. You pick a model, write instructions, and add plugins, knowledge bases, memory and visual workflows, then publish the bot to chat channels or call it through an API. The hosted service at coze.com has a free tier with daily credits and paid plans that add more usage and features; the China version runs separately. In 2025 ByteDance released Coze Studio, the core agent builder, as open source under Apache 2.0, along with Coze Loop for testing, evaluating and monitoring agents, so teams can self-host the visual tools with their own models. Coze suits makers and small teams who want to assemble bots quickly from building blocks. Companies with strict data rules may prefer the self-hosted edition or a rival they can host themselves, given that the hosted product is run by ByteDance.
Best for: Makers and small teams who want to build AI agents from plugins and visual workflows..
