About Flowise

Flowise is an open-source visual builder for LLM apps. Instead of writing LangChain-style code, you wire nodes on a canvas: a model, a vector store, document loaders, tools and memory. The result runs as a chatbot, a retrieval (RAG) assistant or a multi-agent workflow. Finished flows are exposed through a REST API, TypeScript and Python SDKs, or an embeddable chat widget. It runs on Node.js and installs with npm or Docker, and there was also a hosted Flowise Cloud with a free tier and paid plans. In July 2026 the team announced it was winding the project down. The GitHub repository was archived in August 2026, and official support ended on 31 August 2026. The Apache 2.0 code stays available, so existing self-hosted installs keep working and teams can fork it. Nobody is fixing bugs or patching security issues any more, though, so new projects are better off with an actively maintained builder such as Langflow, Dify, Botpress or n8n.

Best for: Teams already running Flowise flows who need to plan a migration or keep a fork alive.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Visual canvas covers chatbots, RAG and multi-agent flows
  • Apache 2.0 code can be forked and self-hosted
  • Flows are callable by API, SDK or an embeddable widget

Why people leave

  • Officially discontinued: no new features or security fixes
  • GitHub repository is archived, so issues and PRs are locked
  • Self-hosting needs Node.js and server upkeep
