About Dato
Dato is a menu bar calendar for macOS by independent developer Sindre Sorhus. It replaces the menu bar clock with a configurable date and time, shows a month calendar and your upcoming events from the calendars on your Mac, and adds extras aimed at people with many meetings: one-click joining of video calls, full-screen notifications for upcoming meetings so you don't miss them, the time in other time zones, week numbers and lots of keyboard shortcuts, including a global shortcut to open it. It can be customised heavily and supports scripting for automation. Dato is a one-time purchase, with a fully functional free trial whose only limitation is a reminder to buy; it is also sold through the Mac App Store. The latest version needs a recent macOS release, with older versions available for earlier systems. Like Itsycal, it depends on calendars set up in the Mac Calendar app and is a companion rather than a full calendar.
Best for: Mac users with many meetings who want time zones and unmissable alerts in the menu bar.
