About Instarem
Instarem is an online money transfer service run by the payments company Nium. It began in Singapore in 2014 and is now used to send money from the US, Europe, Australia and Asia to more than 60 countries, mostly straight to the recipient's bank account. You set up a transfer on the website or app, see the fee and exchange rate upfront, and track it in real time; many transfers arrive the same day, others in one or two business days. Each transfer earns InstaPoints that can be redeemed against later fees, and new users usually get an introductory rate or fee offer. It is popular with Indian and Southeast Asian expats sending money home, and with students paying tuition abroad. There is no subscription: you pay per transfer, with fees and rates that depend on amount, method and destination. A business version handles supplier and payroll payments in more countries.
Best for: Expats in the US, Europe or Asia sending money home to bank accounts, especially to India.
