About KoboToolbox
KoboToolbox is an open-source platform for collecting, managing and visualising survey data, developed originally at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and widely used by humanitarian agencies, NGOs and researchers. Forms can be built in a web form builder or in XLSForm spreadsheets, with skip logic, validation, translations into many languages, GPS, photo and audio questions. Data is collected online or offline through web forms or the KoboCollect Android app, which syncs once a connection is available, making it practical in remote areas. Results can be viewed as reports and maps, downloaded or accessed through an API. Accounts on the public servers are free for humanitarian and nonprofit use, with paid plans for larger usage, and the server software can be self-hosted. The design is utilitarian and it lacks marketing-oriented features like payments or branded themes. It runs in the browser with an Android app.
Best for: NGOs, researchers and field teams collecting survey data offline.
