About Taskwarrior

Taskwarrior manages your to-do list from the terminal. You add tasks with a short command, then attach projects, tags, priorities, due, wait and scheduled dates, dependencies, recurrence and custom attributes. Reports and filters are its strength: you can ask for exactly the slice you want, and an urgency score combines due dates, tags, age and dependencies to sort what matters first. Contexts restrict every command to, say, work or home. Hooks and a large ecosystem of third-party tools add things like a terminal UI, mobile clients and integrations, and the companion Timewarrior handles time tracking. Since version 3 it stores tasks in a local database and syncs between machines through a server or cloud storage using the TaskChampion engine. It is MIT-licensed and free, runs on Linux and macOS (and on Windows through WSL), and suits developers and keyboard-first users; anyone wanting a graphical app or easy sharing should look elsewhere.

Best for: Developers and terminal users who want scriptable, query-driven task lists.
