About Tick

Tick is built around project budgets. Every timer and timesheet entry shows how much of the project's budget is used, so people see the impact of their time as they log it, and managers get reports on budget burn, billable hours and recurring retainer projects. It was the first time tracker to integrate with Basecamp and remains closely tied to it, importing projects and to-dos so people can track against them; it also has a Chrome extension, Zapier connections and an API. Apps cover the web, iOS, Android and Apple Watch. Pricing is tiered by the number of active projects rather than per user, which can be economical for larger teams with few concurrent projects, and there is a 30-day free trial with no card. It lacks invoicing, attendance and automatic tracking, so it pairs best with separate billing software.

Best for: Agencies that live in Basecamp and manage work against project budgets.
