About Toggl Track

Toggl Track is one of the best-known time trackers, built around a simple start-stop timer that you can run from the web, desktop apps, mobile apps or a browser extension that adds timer buttons inside tools like Jira, Asana and Gmail. Time entries are organised by client, project, task and tag, and reports show where hours went, what is billable and how projects compare with estimates. Desktop apps can also record which apps and websites you use as a reminder when filling gaps, and calendar integrations turn meetings into entries. The free plan suits individuals and very small teams; paid Starter and Premium plans add billable rates, project time estimates, team reports, timesheet approvals, invoicing and more admin controls, with a 30-day trial. It runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and the web. It favours ease of use over employee monitoring: there are no screenshots, which some managers want and many employees prefer.

Best for: Freelancers and small teams who want an easy timer and clear billable-hours reports.
