About Zengo
Zengo is a self-custody crypto wallet for iPhone and Android built around multi-party computation (MPC) rather than a seed phrase. Instead of one private key that you must write down and protect, signing is split between a share on your phone and a share held by Zengo, so neither side can move funds alone and there's no recovery phrase to lose or have phished. Recovery uses your email, a recovery kit stored in iCloud, Google Drive or Dropbox, and a face scan. Zengo says its cryptography is open source, and it publishes a plan for recovering funds if the company stops operating. The app covers buying, selling, sending and staking, connects to web3 apps with a transaction-warning feature called ClearSign, and now links to Polymarket prediction markets. The wallet is free to use with purchase, spread and network fees on transactions, and a paid Pro tier adds extra protections. It suits people who want self-custody but are wary of managing a seed phrase.
Best for: Newcomers who want self-custody without writing down and guarding a seed phrase.
