About Dot
Dot puts your day in the Mac menu bar: a month grid, an agenda list, your Apple Reminders and a countdown to the next meeting. Its main job is getting you into calls on time. When an event has a Zoom, Google Meet, Teams or Webex link, Dot shows a floating or full-screen alert before it starts, with a join button and a camera and mic check. You can create events by typing plain phrases like "lunch tomorrow at noon", search all your events, and pick what the menu bar itself shows, such as the date, the next event or a world clock. Dot has no account or server of its own. It reads whatever calendars macOS already syncs, including iCloud, Google, Outlook and Exchange, so adding guests still happens in Apple Calendar. It is a native SwiftUI app for macOS 13 and later, sold as a one-time licence with a free trial and no subscription.
Best for: Mac users with back-to-back video calls who want their agenda and join buttons in the menu bar.
Pros and cons
What works
- Meeting alerts with one-click join for Zoom, Meet, Teams, Webex and custom services
- One-time purchase, no account or subscription
- Shows Apple Reminders next to events, with snoozing
- Customisable menu bar text: next event, countdown, world clock, progress bars
Why people leave
- Mac only, with no iPhone or Windows version
- Can't add invitees itself; you have to open Apple Calendar or your provider to do that
- Depends on calendars already being added to macOS Internet Accounts
