Square Appointments is the booking system inside Square's point-of-sale family, used mainly by salons, barbers, spas, therapists and other appointment-based shops. Customers book online around the clock through a free booking site, social media profiles or Square's own marketplace app, while the business manages staff schedules, reminders and client records from the same dashboard that handles payments and inventory. Paid tiers add cancellation and no-show fees, multi-staff and resource management, class bookings, waitlists and more text-message reminders. The Free plan has no monthly subscription; Square earns from card processing fees on each payment, while the Plus and Premium plans charge a monthly fee per location and offer lower processing rates. It runs in the browser and on iOS and Android, alongside Square's card readers and terminals. It makes most sense if you also take payments with Square; the booking features alone are matched by cheaper standalone tools.
